Default Insiggy v's Siggy 6 month test drive

I have been very fortunate in recent months to be able to have my Siggy as my car and also I was given an Insignia as a company car, don't get me wrong I am not bragging or being an idiot I just thought I would make some observations that some may find interesting.

Firstly it is difficult to compare the two as they are soooo different, the Siggy (2.0T) is like driving somewhere in an executive saloon but the Insiggy (sri 2.0 Cdti) is like driving a car on rails it handles so nicely, put it in a corner and it loves it.

Engine wise there is not a lot in it to be honest, my siggy has prob lost a few bhp over the years and the Insiggy is pretty new so apart from the usual low end diesel chugging the torque feels the same (prob due to the siggy's turbo)

I think Vauxhall have got it spot on with both cars and on some days I love one more than the other, depending on the circumstance.

Internal kit on the Siggy is great for 2004 and the SRI has comparitive kit to be honest, it just looks flashy. However the Insiggy wins for the in built bluetooth system, it is brilliant!

The Insiggy goes back in Feb as I finish the job but it has been a real pleasure and considering I was going to be given a Toyota Verso (nothing wrong with it but I love Vauxhall) I think I am very lucky.

    Any thoughts from anyone?

Good review and interesting for me as im still thinking about changing and the insignia is an option (with lifetime warranty!) as its relatively cheap to run compared to the 2.0T and seems to have decent power..

Cheers guys, I will update this as I go with anything else I think of.

Steven, I am putting in £80.00 of Diesel into the insiggy at 141ppl and getting 600-700 miles out of a tank on a motorway week. On a town driving week I will still get between 500 and 600 miles. As for the siggy I am putting in £70 of petrol and seeing 400 miles motorway 260 banging around town (heavy foot, i know its wrong but I love the turbo).

The best run I had in the Insiggy was Newcastle and back to berkshire on one tank, the light came on as I was 5 miles from home so easily could have done another 50.

Before my vectra i had a fronty, 2 litre petrol and i had a 80-90 mile commute, was filling the thing 3 times a week, but man was she a good yoke. I remember 5am comin round the mountain in a 4 wheel drift. If i could afford to run her and the vectra i'd have another one!

before that an astra mk4, 1.7dti, and before that a 1.2 corsa, such a vaux fanboy!

Just a quick update on the Insiggy V's Siggy front for those who are interested.

Next week see's the Insiggy go in for it's 40k service, this is timely as the Siggy has just hit 60k this week. For two cars with a 6 year age difference I did not think that was bad!

The Siggy is coping well in these cold conditions with some small jouneys really hitting the wallet hard, but also the Insiggy. The Insiggy has had some time with me on the M25 stuck in a few jams recently and I lost a lot of fuel efficiency (I know this will happen but it was more than expected).

As for comfort, being stcuk in a few jams, I really did miss the Siggy for it's comfort and smooth ride.

Howeve, both have their merits and downfalls. At the moment I am still loving them................Don't make me choose!

However, in March I will choose as the Insiggy will be returning to work and to a new owner. I will give a final rundown when it goes.
