Speaking for myself I've answered that I'd be in the (B) category but also (a) as well because there are problem I know the answers to but not qualified.

I would go mostly B with the edge on A ,
self taught mech but I do read lots of posts that are clearly a guess , saying that there are loads of guys on here that have given priceless advice and how 2's over the years

All 3, I'm a qualified mechanic (City and Guilds motor vehicle mechanics and diesel engineering stages 1,2 & 3) and partially qualified auto electrician (City and guilds motor vehicle electronics diagnostic and repair stage 1) but never worked as either and did the qualifications donkeys years ago as part of my hobby and love of cars, so completely out of date on most stuff and the only actual real world experience I have is working on my own or friends cars.

That said though, I answer a lot of stuff with 100% knowledge and accuracy, some stuff I answer that it "could be" something and maybe give a few options and some stuff I guess, because at least I'm making an effort to try and help. So all three for me.

I am no mechanic... i'm a project manager lol... although i grew up in the motor trade.

My replies are mostly based on my experience with owning Vx deisels for many years & suffering with the all common faults

I only answer when I know the solution. As said there are many people on this forum who do have the experience/ knowledge, so better to leave it to them. There is no point in getting someones hopes up or even giving them serious worry if you don't know the correct answer to the problem.

Keep up the good work guys as your help has been invaluable to so many of us.
