When are electric blue bulbs not electric blue?

When they are Halfords brand.

One of me driving bulbs went last week, so as they were ****in dull anyway, thought I would get something a bit different than standard off white 5W bulbs. Found Halfords did some electric blue/White ones, that are meant to be brighter. I can't tell the difference, same dullness, same watered down pooh colour, just as well only £4.89 or they'd be going back.

But labelled as brighter than standard and in electric blue/white (the bulb was a light blue), yet do not appear to be any brighter and are the same colour. No duller, just seems odd, that you have standard bulbs, and electric blue/white bulbs, but both seem to emit the same colour, perhaps cos it is only 5W the colour can't be projected.

i went for the osram night breakers. Much cleaner and brighter light. Still not xenons though but better than standard. Search on ebay for best deals.

Ive recently bought the Halfords Super Brilliance bulbs. Theyre on offer BOGOF at the moment, good job as theyre £28!!!!! I'd bought Nightbreakers but bought H1 anstead of H7, much to my disappointment after taking the airbox off and Halfords dont do Nightbreakers.
Super Brilliance are definitely nowhere near approaching the luminescence of HIDS but a damn sight better than standard bulbs
£28 was a lot of cash for 2 bulbs but the difference is noticeable enough to make me think it was worth it from a safety perspective

The lights on my old classics cars were often crap (apart from the BMW tha proved to have had 100/80w bulb fitted....) so first thing I used to do, before the prices went silly, were fit the Halfords brilliance ones in dip/main beam and the more yellow all weather ones in fogs..
Not bought them since they went silly money, you can get Osram Nightbreakers on ebay for £15 a pair if you try, which will be my next experiment.
I've currently got a set of Xenon replacements in from an eBay supplier I found good, been in over 18 months and doing fine. Must get some spares though, gave mine to Messsy after he detailed my car for me and I showed him how to do the beam level raise mod. He noticed a big improvement
