Default Vectra 2004 with NCDC 2015 ... CAN-bus or not?

    Hi,
I plan to buy Vectra 2.2 DTI, built in February 2004, with NCDC 2015 and colour display. My plan is to replace the NCDC 2015 unit with Witson W29820L (link). My question: does my Vectra with NCDC 2015 have CAN-bus or not?
Will this Witson unit work in my Vectra?

    Thanks for any info,
    Phil

What bigmac meant to have said was 'Yours is what is called half canbus, which runs upto 54 model with full canbus being 05 onwards, the difference mostly being the radio connections... Looking at that link its meant for a full canbus car so wont work correctly'
Plasma's Tech2 services are now open and able to provide services

That will work in your car , but a fair bit of modifying is required. Check out one of my threads from about 18 months ago. You controls etc...will be half canbus and you will not be able to change anything on the colour display. Also bear in mind that that stereo is not for a vectra as it doesnt fit flush in the middle like a vectra stereo , its one thats used in an astra etc...

    Agreed - what he said

It is just the level of CANbus that varies.

October 2002 to Sept 2004 ish..
Half CANbus with ISO connector on the back.

October 2004 to End of production (2008/09)
Full CANbus with Quadlock connector on the rear

So it is the rear connector type, not CAN or Not-CAN that is the question...

Incidentally, yours is a half CAN unit with the ISO connector.

    Thanks for the info!
I think I will go the full CANbus modification route.

You should not need to convert to full CANbus, unless you wish to fit a CD30, CDC40 or CD70 Navi etc...

    You have CANbus,
but with ISO connection, which is the aftermarket standard set-up.

As a rule of thumb, the radios with four digits (eg 2004, 2005, 2006, 2015 etc) have ISO connectors and so go in half-CANBUS cars. The ones with two digits (eg 30, 40, 70) have Quadlock connectors and go in full-CANBUS cars.

As said above, half-CANBUS is up to Sept 2004, full-CANBUS is from then on. This is manufacture date, not registration date obviously. Also the change occurred before the facelift, so don't assume a car with pre-facelift headlights is half-CANBUS if it's an 04, 54, 05 or 55 plate. But anything 53 plate and earlier is going to be half-CANBUS.
