    Default Alarm advice

Last few days, my alarm has been going off randomly (much to the annoyance of everybody in my halls ), I've checked and ruled out the bonnet switch and ultrasonic module already.

A friend has suggested the car battery could be dying (it is now that the alarm has drained it!), but the battery has drained completely before (Once randomly last winter, when it was exceedingly cold! and once over the summer when it wasn't used for 3 months!, but it's been absolutely fine since Sept) and this hasn't been an issue!?

I've seen some people saying the internal sounder battery is a common fault which can cause randomly activation, so I'll try this as well, but wont be able to change these for a couple of weeks till I get some money!

Are there any other possible causes anybody can think of (Its not an estate, so the rear window wire isn't an issue......right?)?

I've checked with an OBD code reader, and there are no fault codes, but I'm guessing the alarm codes need a tech2 check, right? (Which I can't afford right now!!)

I would have to agree with what you have said already..

Items to check are usually -

    Ulrasonic unit - Checked
Alarm Internal Battery - Strong candidate...
Car battery become weak - worth considering a replacement
Bonnet, load area and door switches - checked

The most common I have heard is the first two... and the random time of operation sure does point to the sounder battery.

You could unplug the entire alarm sounder, as you will no longer have the internal battery issue.
The down-side to this is, if it aint the internal battery, then the car uses the main horns for your sounder, and so about ten times louder - eek!!!
