i would check sub volume on the head unit and on the amp make sure their turned up

its been a few years since i used a sub (babys buggy stopped me) but active subs never seemed to be as loud as a proper seperate sub and amp but you still should be able to hear it

    +1

make sure and follow the fitting infromation to the letter. The pioneer might have an independant sub control which could be turned down same as the amp settings.

the leads should be going from the sub out / rear out on the head unit. I am assuming it must also need an amp control wire. make sure this is set up as the sub wont know to turn on without it... That said I have never unsed a combined unit before...

Looking at the head unit manual (http://docs.pioneer.eu/Manuals/AVH_3...lation_manual/) it sugestes you would have connected the rca leads from the the sub out to the sub system and also contected the control wire. is this the case?

I know my old Pioneers all had a hidden menu with extra setup features for the sub. I presume its the dedicated low level outputs your using. If not this may well be the issue.
