Default 1.9 CDTI (150) - Cambelt Change; What Do I Need?

    Hi Guys,

My Veccy is approaching 90,000 miles and I have noticed a noise from the engine which (from reading the forums) points to wear on the cambelt tensioners.

Having had a belt go on my old Astra I'm not going to mess around with this one so my question is this; if I'm having the belt changed at this many miles, what else do I need to have done?

    So far I'm thinking:

    • Cambelt (obviously!)
    • Tensioners
    • Rollers
    • Water Pump

Is there anything else I have missed and what should I expect to pay from an independent garage?

    Cheers!

    Dan

Would add a aux belt to the list for the price..

And i would expect a bill for around £350..

Unless you can get the parts and know some one who can fit..

Cam belt is about £96 gates
    Water pump £40

    Fitting £120

Thats what i would have been charged but the garage i got the car from did it under warranty as i had only had the car a week..

Usually cheaper to purchase the cambelt kit, rather than the components separate
Phone up at least two garages, advise them of the parts list (cambelt kit, water pump)
Equally, ask for price with and without coolant renewal at same time

The thermostat is a common failure point on the CDTI. If it runs less than 80 degrees, change it while the coolant is drained
