Default V6 CDTI couple Injectors gone (perhaps) ?

    Hi Chaps,

Great we've got our own forum

    Have a 2003 Auto Y30DT , 112K miles.
SCV's were replaced about a year ago. (Funny how important this fact is, and only the peeps in this forum know that )

She's been running lumpy recently , plus smoking (whitish)
Worse at low revs, however when booted still pulls like a train.

Had a couple of Misfire error codes (1,3), but some Injector cleaner seemed to clear those up. Last one was over 900 miles ago.
    Misfires were when @ Idle.

Took her into a local diagnostics place, which came recommended.
    Turner Automotive in St Albans

The result of the diags was that 2 of the Injectors were faulty (5,6)
Chap I spoke to seemed to be on the straight and narrow, said he switched off Injectors one @ a time via Tech2 , and when switching off 5, 6 there was very little change in the power output.

Quote for new Injectors is £838 each + 3 hours labour to replace.
He suggested getting rid of the car, as possible the other 4 will suffer the same fate. Wasn't trying to push the work to be done and I only need to pay for the diag time.

Love the 3.0 so not sure I want to dump it, but spending close to 2K for a car only worth 3k makes no sense

Few questions for the experts on the forum.

The misfire codes were for different Cylinders to the ones current not working
Could some more cleaner sort it out?

Is it worth trying one of the places that claim to recon Injectors? Any recommendations.

Will prob take her to a main dealer for a second opinion, or can anyone recommend somewhere? Don't mind travelling from the South East.

    Any help/tips much appreciated.

    Tony.

Try and find a denso service centre and have them reconed at a fraction of the price. They are quite east to remove I took mine out to be tested.

Fuel system cleaner can't do any harm in the situation mate an might clean system up.

Try a new fuel filter aswel.
The injectors for this engine are stupidly expensive. So getting them reconned could save you money. But I'd be guessing at you'll still be looking around 800 for parts an labour still.

That's the usual advice, if more than one has failed then replace the entire set
Cleaner is a false economy, the issue will just get worse
Ideally remove the injectors and have them sent for refurbishment

Go to isuzu.co.uk and the dealerships can give you details for the nearest Denso mechanic, as they won't deal with you directly

    Small update,

Can't find anywhere which will refurb the V6 injectors, tried quite a few Injector specialists, and Isuzu dealer. If anyone has any leads pass them on.

Celes see mail about your offer.

Have you tried Diesel Fuel Injection Service Ltd, in Watford - 01923.721194 ?? Or AP Diesels in Surrey http://www.apdiesels.com/index.php?o...ntact&Itemid=3 ??

Or, try buying the latest copy of Diesel Car magazine. IIRC, there used to be many companies advertising injector services.
