Default How would you cure a air lock from fuel pump to injectors?

Ive unclogged some tissue from my high presure pump on a 1.9 150 and hoped it would fire up but no luck. Could there be a air lock problem as it just kept on cranking and no start. Cheers

Don't try firing a common rail engine with the unions undone!

Doing that on a common rail engine could do serious damage to yourself or others as the pressure can reach about 15000psi.

When was the last time the fuel filter was changed and is the lift pump in the tank firing up when turning on the ignition

The lift pump is fine mate, my car died while driving and had to get it recovered. The pressure is low on the rail and the man thought it was fuel pump. I ordered a fuel pump and as I was removing old one I noticed the connector on the pump was clogged with abit of tissue. I removed this and the car just cranked and cranked and still wouldnt fire. Does disconnecting the battery do anything like reset fault so it will start. I was hoping that removing the clog would solve my problems. Iam just not sure where to go from here now. Please guide me lol

From owners hand book -Restarting after running out of fuel is
possible, but starting behaviour will be
delayed. Turn on the ignition three times
for 15 seconds each time. Then start the
engine for a maximum of 40 seconds. If it
does not start, repeat the process after
waiting at least 5 seconds. I f the engine still
does not start, contact a workshop.

I would make sure the fuel filter housing is full of diesel , I had similar issues a few years back with a 2.2 dti and everyone was saying - diesel's now self bleed ( rubbish)
As soon as the filter housing was filled with diesel it fired up not long after .
Maybe even try a tow start in 3rd or 4th gear at low speed .

As said fill fuel filter housing & tow start would be the best option imo
