    Default Traffic Cops on earlier

Anyone see it on BBC earlier? It showed the aftermarth of a 7.5 ton lorry hitting a 206 from behind at nearly 60mph. Powerful images of the consequences of a loss of concentration, and the needless loss of a young life.

If that doesn't make you think twice about using your mobile on the move, nothing will.

I always find this sort of programme fascinating, but tonight, it restored a lot of respect for the jobs these boys and girls do.

I watched that programme , my hat goes off to those cops especially having to deal with the said mentioned ! That cannot be easy !

What beggers belief though is seeing the stupid BMW woman driver on her phone !!!!!! She was totally oblivious as to what she was doing wrong .

And yet....................driving down the motorway fiddling with your satnav could you get fined for that ?

A guy got jailed for dangerous driving (as far as I recall) a couple of years ago for having an accident whilst reaching for a bag of sweets on the passenger seat. The accident was a big one involving a few other cars, but it got a lot of publicity at the time.

Someone else got a driving with undue care (or similar) for having a kitkat at the traffic lights.

    Two ends of the spectrum

Pi$$es me off every day. I'll see a load in the morning as usual, mostly women, doing the make up, on the phone, reading etc.
The best i ever saw was a bloke on the M56 who had a full picnic going on whilst doing paperwork and a drink in his hand too He was only doing about 70mph though

yeah i enjoy watching that program, as you said ashame such a young person lost her life because some jerk couldnt wait 5 mins to play with his phone. I see it all the time, people driving whilst on their mobiles, makes you realise that the laws are in place for a reason.
Wouldnt of wanted that coppers job of telling the next of kin.

I saw it also, and it certainly does make you think. I loved the way the officer dealt with the Volvo driver driving down the hard shoulder after he'd just delivered the bad news. Then behind him in the distance there was a van doing the exact same thing but he didn't see it. I wonder if they can use the camera images to prosecute the driver of the van.

I saw a guy driving a Peugeot 206 this morning with a mobile in his right hand and a cigar in his left hand. How the hell he was driving correctly was behond me!

To my mind, the sooner the police start a proper clamp down on the idiots that use their phones whilst driving and make the penalty more appropriate e.g. £150 the better. There is no need to hold a mobile, a hands free kit is in expensive and more often than not free!

Never mind £150, it's undue care and attention, and should be a court appearance. I know the courts are already full, but we all see people everyday on their mobiles, putting make-up on, reading papers etc.

    Time for a clamp down.
