Was driving home from work then battery light on dash lights up. After five miles driving power stearing gone and all lights on dash. How I can know what alternator I got under bonnet 110amp or 140 amp. Any help...

i believe you also need to find out if it has a multiplug or not, if it has a big plug on it then its a £300-400 job, if its an older style alternator its around £100 to fix.
Youve got the same car as me mate so should be the cheaper of the 2 alternators. Its not a hard job to do youself just a bit tricky getting it out and back in.
theres a great how2 on here
Its not first time I dooing that cos I change one in my saab 9-3 with 45k miles the same engine. Just now is dark so I cant see anything. Will take first thing tomorrow morning Cos need car to get to work...
its the rubbish denso alternators that VX fit
It was not funny to drive with no power stearing in the town
Mine went a month ago and the power steering went just as i turned into my close.I cant believe how hard it is to steer without power steering.
