Default Nearly a Vectra? Saturn Eura

Sometimes I think GM rivals British Leyland in the crazed decision stakes! I know lets build two cars nearly the same but COMPLETELY different! Take these two Vectra's note nearly the same, except for the door handle in a totally different place! Yet in the Saab 900 days its a almost no-no! (The Cavailer esq 900 was meant to have GM handles) Throw in a totally different dash, redesign the rear Signum/Estate door tops too (note the long wheelbase) etc.

As the stupidly priced Holden Vectra bombed (suposedly Vectra's were stockpiled for a couple of years, its BL all over again!), and Saturn was probally a smaller player than Holden, should this have been the Holden in the first place?

    The evidence:

Note the A pillar to wing join, washer jets in a different place meaning two different scuttles, indicator presing etc:

And why couldn't we get this set up? Even belatedly dragged round european motorshows? I know its a Lexus-esq fiddle, but it could have been a viable Congestion charge fiddle Halo car 4 years ago!

The Aura Green Line was a mild hybrid, following the Vue Green Line as the second vehicle in Saturn's lineup incorporating GM's belt alternator starter system. It rode on the XE's suspension. It was sale from late March 2007 to 2009.

As in the Vue, the Aura Green Line was equipped with the 2.4L Ecotec engine mated to an electric motor/generator and the 4T45-E four-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain was rated at 164 hp (122 kW) and 159 lb·ft (216 N·m) of torque. The electric motor/generator augmented the gasoline engine during launch and under wide-open throttle. The Aura Green Line had an EPA estimated fuel economy of 26 mpg-US (9.0 L/100 km; 31 mpg-imp) city and 34 mpg-US (6.9 L/100 km; 41 mpg-imp) highway (for the 2007-08 model years it was 28 mpg-US (8.4 L/100 km; 34 mpg-imp) city and 36 mpg-US (6.5 L/100 km; 43 mpg-imp)), which Saturn claimed was up to a 30% improvement over the Aura XE.

The Saturn Aura Green Line was eligible for a $1300 US Federal tax credit, as well as several state tax credits.

GM are like BL? Except GM made $1.7 Billion profit in the past 3 months. Pretty good going I reckon.

At least 75% of that profit is from selling us dodgy spares.

To the OP, Ford are one of the manufacturers that have woken up to the fact that its waste of money making different cars for different markets, the Focus and Fiesta now being their first so called "World Cars". Apparently US buyers are desperate for Ford to sell the Kuga there too, they love the styling and they are loosing their grip with the V8's now that they are paying $4 a gallon(my heart bleeds for them).

As for the Saturn Aura, I like this and as to why Vauxhall/Opel couldnt have used it as the saloon I dont know, it's far sleeker than the one they bumped out here.

11,000 Euros brand new makes it more attractive because that means made in China spares dirt cheap.
