Default Argh! Finding a noise on a car

I'm about to lose it with my missus's car!

Shes got a 2008 Polo which is a canny little car but has an irritating 'whistle' at around 50-60mph onwards. Its like wind whistling over something and it coming from the drivers side front of the car.

I'm done everything I can think of to find it:
    - taped up the entire windscreen edges
    - taped up the drivers door edges
    - taped up the wing edges/gaps
    - taped up/blocked the windscreen wiper area under the windscreen
    - taped up around headlights/foglights etc

No matter what I've tried the friggin noise is still there and its really starting to annoy me, I can't for the life of me find anything else to tape up/cover!

Its definitely the wind causing it, you can hear it 'outside' when you open the windows so its not like its coming through a door seal or anything.

Car is in solid nick, with nothing out of the ordinary - and bizarrely she used to have a 2006 Polo which never had this noise!

Anyone got any diagnostic tips for this before I explode?

check behind the mirror base. there is foam backing between the mirror base and the door frame maybe its not there or maybe its moved so letting in wind noise. worth a check.

I've prised the inside cover of the mirror back a bit and can see a foam block in there. But I've also taped around the outer edges of the mirror so it couldn't get in ther

Unless of course the wind travels up through the door and into the mirror!

Flippin' car has used up 2 rolls of black tape trying to find this!
