    Default courtesy car (insurance)?

hi all the other week i put my car in and asked for a courtesy car from the main dealers, but i had to put the courtesy car on my insurance it was only for the day and it only cost me £15 , and the problem was done under warranty. does that sound right putting the courtesy car on your own inssurance ?

yes, i do that. My insurance is Norwich Union and in the small print I'm insured on any car thats given to me whilst mine is in for repair. But i dont have to pay for it....

For £15 vauxhall can put you on there insurance but with something like a £1000 excess..

    yes, it makes good sense..

otherwise you may have to sign up against a hefty insurance excess... my local dealers is £500...

so it makes good sense in my book..

    Hi Gas Man,

I’ve had a courtesy car from Arnold C three times. Each time I had to put the courtesy car on my own insurance (I got a Corsa every time). Direct Line did it for nothing (not sure how the change in insurance group works – if you went up the way - but it was a big reduction down in each case).

My experience is that if you have a courtesy car for warranty work then you do not pay for insurance.

When I had the SRi demo for a month, I had to put it on my insurance, but it didn't cost anything. Before that, I had a few rentals via Enterprise, and only had to give a £50 deposit. Excess was £250, just like mine is, so it wasn't an issue, just bluddy annoying and inconvenient.
