I have flown alsorts of RC models... The little ones do take a bit of getting used to, but after a short while then can be tamed.

Kinda fly something a tad bigger these days!!

My little un has had just about every type of copter on the market. He makes them look easy.

Got him one of these a while back, very well made and quite stable once you trim them out

Your son should be ok as long as he's got a big space to practice

I've had a plastic one and a metal one - which is a lot more stable and has a gyro function. Both have been three channels so you can take off and trim the helicopter to stop it spinning on the spot. They both have 6 AA batteries to power the remote which doubles as a charging station. Normally they only take about twenty minutes to charge for about 5 minutes flying time hope that helps.

I've got two, same as above. One's a scale model of a Blackhawk, the other similar of Airwolf. Easiest way I've found is keep the power on, get it a couple of feet up in clear space, then adjust the tail spin.
maagaed to hit the ceiling fan and got a slap when Wendy caught me hovering one over her head. Great fun

thats the only way i can see this one working by keeping the power on max and steering but would have to be done out doors because of the height it goes

Glad I saw this post , My son has asked for one for christmas , so any recomendations ?
I can't spend a fortune and it needs to be something fairly rugged , relatively easy to control and pretty durable ?
    Thanks.
