    Default Fakra Query

Having got my Fascia panel on route and received my CTSVX002 wiring adaptor this morning, I thought I'd give the setup (Sony HU) a test this afternoon. The CTSVX002 allows the steering controls to work properly and also allows me to change the clock and date etc, so all is good there. But I think I need a Fakra adaptor to connect the aerial up. Question is, do I need the

Non - Amplified one like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PC5-100-Va...item2a0a586faa

    or

the Amplified one like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vauxhall-A...item3f0343f3ff

Still can't work out either how to get the stereo to work in the same manner as the CD30 - ie auto off when key removed/auto on with key in position one/on off as required when key out. Its either only on with ignition at position2 or only on/off by on/off button on radio. I know I need to swap the red/yellows wires etc but I cant get the desired outcome. ????

From memory, there is no option to have the head-unit come on and go off in the same way as the original units.

This is controlled by CAN data-package signals, which after market headunits are unable to decypher.

As a long shot, you could try one of the black wires from the BCM, as these are CAN controlled ignition lives.

Is there anything else that is also on when the OEM head-unit is?

I don't think there is, and I have studied and dabbled heavily with the wiring of the CIM, BCM, Display and head-unit.

Regarding the amplification of the aerial..

I run a CD70 in my non amplified Cavalier Mk3

However I do believe that the Vectra-C does already have an amplifier in the aerial base.

I would just fit a non-amplified adapter - an amplifier at both ends of the aerial circuit could cause some "noise" issues.

Thanks Robsey, thats what I'd feared may be case, is it to do with the Ignition Logic? I believe it can be done with the Astra H but not the Vectra?

I have just found this, CTAVXCAN001 - vauxhall canbus adaptor. Would this work re the ignition? But this looks like it replaces the CSTVX002 (which has the steering controls)... Confused now... It looks one or the other.....

I honestly don't know if the CTAVXCAN001 works any better or not.

I am surprised that something would work with the Astra-H and not the Vectra-C.

Regarding ignition logic etc, they are wired the same.

They only differ with regard to Board Computer functionality - how it reads fuel contents and other fuel related functions.

My brother has an Astra-H, he was saying about another canbus 'box' adaptor' but I think he maybe is mixed up with it all. I think, looking into it, the CTSVX002 is the way to go. The best way is to make it live all the time and turn it on/off with the button when needed. Could just pop off the security front panel to turn it off and put it back to turn it on. I'm was in that habit anyway when the stereo was in my old car.

My Astra VXR has the new style small connector lead thing (a blue'ish colour connector) for the arieal. I fitted the amplified adapter and found the reception to be great. I used the control wire for the amp as the power source for the adaptor. This was the advice i got ont he astra sites. From what I can tell this is the same for the later model vecta's and what I would be going after. Hope this helps.
