    Default loosing key signal on my wifes 04 zafira

    at first i thought the key needed a new battery so changed it , went for a wee while then same again but if i reset it (key in ignition dash lights on and press the lock button on the key ) and it goes for another wee while .
    so tried the spare key but it still does the same any ideas

    Usual culprit is a dry joint on the battery connector. You can either try soldering it, or place a thin piece of card (or folded post-it note) on top of the battery to push it down a bit harder when the lid is in place.

    Thats what it is, both my keys on my 04 DTi Zaf do the same thing, the battery holder has come right off the pcb due to knackered solder joints. I pack it in with cardboard to hold it in place and it seems to work.....

    Had this with my wife's spare key to the Vec, reset it half a dozen times, eventually it stayed set.

    Just remembered about a thread on a forum I used to look at regularly until they updated vBulletin, but that's another story.
