fuel pump, air flow sensor? Just guesses ofcourse. Have you had it in anywhere and do you have any fault codes coming up?
Thanks Keith had one last week but that was to take the engine managment light he has a quick look and said it was running rich.He showed me a graph which it was supposed to look like(wavey lines)but when he connected mine it was a up and down linewith a straight line then up and down again. He said it was supposed to run rich then lean but mine wasnt.
Which engine?
mileage?
sounds like the MAF (Mass air flow meter) if its running rich. Also ifs a 1.8 if the MAF goes faulty it can cause the Sensor which is fitted on the top of the exhaust manifold to break down, two much fuel = high temp which burns the sensor out
If you do replace the MAF make sure its a genuine one as the cheap ones are rubbish
Hi Merikiito, its a Vectra sxi 1.8 2003 were whould i find that in the engine? its done 68.500 miles
Hi the MAF is the large plastic unit with the electrical connector in the large tube that runs from the air filter box to the top of air intake for the fuel. You will just need to undo the jubilee clips and carefully disengage it from the air flw pipe (tube) Carefully disconnect the electrical connector.
Best of luck Nigel 11mallard
Thanks nigel will keep you posterd if it fixs the problem.
Do you know anyone with the same car/engine because you could try their MAF first to see if it cures the issue before you buy one
Hi i have cleaned my MAF and seems to run a little better when warm, but i havent took it on a run yet. But when i start it up it coughs and splutters till it warms up Could this be the same problem?
Coil pack maybe...??
