Default Help!!! Injector seal problem 150cdti

    Hi folks,

I have a problem I hope someone can help me with before I go nuts... I have just changed the copper washer injector seals on two injectors, but one injector just wont seal. I tightened it to the suggested torque setting which left it leaking like mad, so I tightened it quite a bit more which has had no effect whatsoever.

I just dont know where to go from here, I cant risk tightening the clamp nut anymore, it feels like something is gonna strip if I do. Any suggestions anyone?

    Ta

Dont know where or who does it but you need the hole/injector seat cleaning to give a clean seating area for a new seal.

for example something like this, or maybe someone has one or can do it for you.

I had a similiar problem. The seat needs to be meticulously clean. I easily spent an hour using an old bicycle spoke trimmed off with a small rag, a jar of petrol and a compressor to blow out the debris.

The seals are slightly cupped and I'm damned if I can remember which way up I fitted them and why.

thanks guys, I know this to be good advice. I spent quite a bit of time poking round with rags soaked in carb cleaner but the seats do seem to be a bit pitted. Had a look at the cutter set, maybe a last resort as I dont want steel filings in the cylinder.

I`m going to try softening the copper washer tomorrow as I dont understand how the old ones show a definite ring where the injector has bitten into it, but after removing the new one it hardly shows any sign of bedding in even at greater clamp torque. I didnt realise they need to be in a particular way up, I`ll look into it.

    Thanks again.
