    Default Grille V-strip repacement advice

Hi. Recently bought a replacement primed V-strip for my 56 facelift C. have had it painted to give my car that VXR front end look but have now run into sone trouble.
What is the best way to get the new eyelets to re attach to the original tabs that fix the part in place?
For those of you who have done this that should make sense.

    Many thanks.

    Nic.

What i done is i broke off the black tabs that they should slip into, and push the v grille as far back as possible so the rectangle holes on the clips are all exposed on the inner side and put cable ties through the rectangle holes. Hope it makes sense.

Those facelift v grille are like gold dust, they retail at £108 from the dealers and very rare they have them at the breakers, best place to keep looking is ebay.

No. i had alot of trouble finding a replacement v grille, there are plenty of pre facelift ones but rare on facelifts, i dont know why. I got mine from ebay not long ago. I kept looking everyday on ebay and eventually one came up, got it for £21, but no black back piece where the badge sits on.

I would drill a few small holes in the plastic bits that had the tabs on and try to tie wrap it.
I would try everything possible not to glue it on.

Cheers or the advice. I have gone down the cable tie route. Bit of a ****** to get the original off. Hard to get to the lower set of tabs.

I got mine from the Vauxhall accesories website. I found one on ebay but with post it worked out the same cost. About £65.

    Hi,
I'm looking to do the same but was wondering if I can get away with driving my car without the chrome V whilst it gets painted? Obviously going to look awful but will save me from trying to find a new one. Does it do anything daft like stop the bumper from falling off?
