DMF query, rumble at idle and if clutch depressed

I have had a strange rumble for about the last 6000 miles, its not too bad and i hear it mostly when I am inside the cabin, if i gently push the gear level forward (with clutch pedal up) this noise dissapears, if I let it drift back to neutral its back.

anyway from what I know i suspect dmf failure, at first i thought it might be the bearing as I've had similar symptoms on a small hatchback many years ago,

just realised these vectra c 1.9 cdti 120's 2007 facelift have dmf's

anyone confirm how long this can last, ive heard they can last a good 20k miles prior to failure,

im putting aside £500 for the parts, clutch, flywheel, bearing, and possibly clutch slave cylinder (not sure if I need to change this as I heard there were some dodgy ones fitted on some cars, not sure if this is true or not)

then will be hammering the job the day the dmf fails

Might sound daft, but check your gearbox oil first. May be running low and causing your noise.

if you leave a DMF to fail completely it can also take out your gearbox

I read elsewhere that the V6 CDTi has a DMF.........can it be so?

What kind of oil is required. I've double checked the noise and it sounds almost bubbly if tjat makes any sense

f17 = 1.6 liters
f23 = 1.55 liters
f35 = 1.9 liters
f40 = 3.2 liters

How and where do you check the gear box oil level and I have a 56plate 1.9 cdti 150 so what gear box would I have? I'm also getting exactly the same noise cheers Lee
