    confused 2.2 DTI Auto MPG?

Hi everyone, I've just bought my first Vectra C, a 2.2 DTI auto (2003) and I was wondering what mpg other owners are getting. It's done 103k, been looked after (FVSH) and seems to be problem free, but the mpg doesn't seem as good as I was expecting. I have a daily 80m round trip, mostly A roads (about 7 mile of which are urban) and an average speed of 40-60 on the open road. It seems I'm getting about 43-47mpg. Is this normal as I expected 50+mpg?

I've been reading the threads and it seems like the EGR can cause mpg issues, is it worth giving it a clean anyway?

    Thanks in advance.

Nothing wrong with that mpg at all. Mine is a manual and i average 50mpg all A roads with a 20 mile trip to work each way. Can average 60mpg on a motorway, providing you keep to 70mph.

It is worth cleaning the EGR and Boost sensor just for a piece of mind thou.

Check tyre pressures 36 psi i put in mine all round.

    But your figures are fine.

Thanks for the info, I realise the auto is not as economical as the manual, but I was hoping to get 50+ on a run.

Thanks for your replies, I am considering having it re-mapped to improve the overall performance and (hopefully!) mpg. From the sounds of it, any performance chip for this engine needs to be hard-wired in. Does anyone have any recommendations for a ECU chip or remap?

    Thanks

Id be careful as on the 2.2 DTi's the diesel pump is a bit fragile and expensive to replace IMHO id run with what you got mpg wise thats about average and you'll possibly get more on a long run cruising at 70mph.

I'd be stoked with that, I get 35mpg, but admittedly I drive into London every day and really only get about 5 miles of 70-100mph driving out my 26 daily miles
