    Default Is my DMF goosed

Can anyone tell me what the early signs of a DMF failure are. I have a 2.0T and just recently at about 2.5-3k revs there is vibration throughout the car, pedals, steering wheel etc. When i'm driving it feels like I have knobbly tyres on. If i'm doing 60mph and knock it into neutral, once the revs die and i'm coasting the vibrations stop. Took it to independent vx garage and they think it may be the DMF, The problem is I don't have £900 spare to have it replaced as an experiment to see if the vibrations stop.

    Any help would be appreciated.

£900! thats far too expensive. Never heard of a DMF problem on the Z20NET but would of thought the symptoms would be the same as all others which is generally vibration and a knocking noise with the clutch pressed

    Buypartsbuy.co.uk do a DMF for £220 and a clutch kit for £130

Labour shouldn't be that much either

I'm gonna take it another garage for a second opinion. How much have other people been paying for a dmf replacement. atm i just have vibrations, no clunking sound. If i were to be the dmf how long can i expect it to last before i would need doing, or is that a "how long is a piece of string question"

Car has done 105k mileage wise.

shop around... a clutch specialist will be almost half the price of a garage

I was able to feel mine whilst the car was idling, the vibration clearly felt in the front passenger and driver seats
The car would also lose traction, a symptom similar to clutch slip
Mine had this issue for near on 40K miles, then finally gave up as the clutch failed

Personally, I would wait until the clutch fails, then both can be replaced at the same time

Vauxhall ain't cheap for a new DMF and clutch, I saw the bill for mine and it was £1200
Mine went just a month before the warranty expired

If i were to start the car in neutral and blip the throttle upto 3k revs, if the dmf was on it's way out would all the car still vibrate?
