Hi peeps,
Ive just blanked off my egr (1.9cdti 150)
The car with spanner light has come.
Is this supposed to come on? i thought it was the little eml light in the bottom right hand corner that was only supposed to come on.

Are the Electixal connectors defiantly connected?
yep. by that u mean the electrical connector to the egr?
i didnt even take the egr off. i just undone the 2 x intake pipe bolts & just loosened off the other bolts to reallign the egr with the intake pipe.
cars running fine & alot better. turbo spools up sooner & the lumpyness has gone on tick over
Im not getting the small eml light just the big one (car with spanner)
has amyone else had this?
i was on the assumption only the little light should come on

Bump :-)
just took it out for another spin & the car/spanner light went off & the little light illuminated.
just getting the car/spanner light on egnition start now.
im hoping thatl be a stored fault code & will cure itself in a couple of weeks.
But overall im happy
as its not cost efective to pay to have the egr removed from the ecu i WILL be getting remap as some point early next year

Just to confirm, this is what happens, you get the spanner light first, then the emissions light comes on and stays on (unless mapped out).
Driving home tonight got a few seconds of reduced power and the car and spanner light came on for a mament.
.
I had this a few years ago and VX sorted it out under warranty
.
This time I am going to blank off the EGR valve as it seems easy enough to do but what I want to know is this.
.
Does any part of the EGR need cleaning before I fit the blanking plate?
Thanks in advance!
i blanked mine about 3000 miles ago and never had any problems with it except the spanner light ! you get used to ignoring it and it certainly ran a lot better
