    Default air flow meter

had my 150 cdti serviced in sept this year and the mechanic said there was a air flow meter fault on his reader showing up ,although the car ran ok and it was avg 50 mpg ,over the past couple of months my mpg has dropped to 45/46 mpg keeping it to the speed limit could this be the air flow meter ?is that the box on the pipe that comes out of the airbox?

was the light an oil can with spanner or a car with spanner, the mechanic could have cleared the fault & then done a new check for any present codes

I have never known this to indicate a fault... i'm pretty sure any maf faults would normally throw the car with spanner...
maybe it's just time for some new oil & filters... along with some injector cleaner & a good thrash

I am not 100% sure, but I THINK it is possible to turn off Check Control using a code reader or tech 2.
This MIGHT stop any faults appearing in the rev counter.

It's certainly an option that can be seen in op-com.

Perhaps you could attend a local meet and there is a good chance somebody there will have a code reader and will check for you.

    Short story.
Before I changed my tid to a gid, and enabled the on-Board Computer (BC) I had lots of bulb failure warning in the small box in the rev counter.
When I had the car serviced i asked about them and the guy said he checked them and had sorted it.
No more Bulb warnings, not even when a bulb later failed??
Next service, car returned, bulb warnings back!!
Changed every bulb and cleaned contacts, etc., and got rid of fault eventually.
With BC and Check Control, it tells you exactly which bulb, which is brilliant.
