Vehicle : Vectra c SRI Facelift

    Trim : SRI

    Engine : 1.9 CDTI 150

    Year : 2006

Default Still getting really bad MPG

    Hey Guys,

My SRI 1.9 150 is still getting shocking MPG although the car is running very good, here are my figures.

    Urban-BC reading 38MPG but i get 28MPG
    Mixed-BC reading 47MPG but i get 33MPG
    Motorway-BC reading 61MPG but i get 42MPG

My BC is showing the correct MPG for my driving but what it says and what i get are 2 completely different things.Ive tried all i can think of to sort out the issue, here is a list of them so far:

    -Thermostat changed -Correct tyre pressure
    -EGR cleaned -Vacume hoses changed
-Boost sensor cleaned -Dianostics(no faults found)
    -Oil change -Air filter changed
-Oil filter change -Air box sealed up after modification
-Redex in tank -Use CC as much as possible

Ive also checked for fuel leaks, theres no smell of diesel under the bonnet and no wet patches anywhere so i dont think thats the problem.

The only thing i havnt changed is the fuel filter but would a diesel filter cause such poor MPG?

Any suggestions would be greatly recieved.

    Thanks

Not that bad, but it definitely cuts a few MPG off. Worth changing in my opinion

Any air escaping? If I clean my K&N out and don't tighten the jubilee clip (or run without one) then I get shocking mpg!

My airbox did have some large sections cut out of it(not by me) and i thought this would be the cause but i covered over the holes with fibreglass and made it air tight and it didnt make the slightest bit of difference.

I allso swapped over my panel filter to a original vauxhall one and that didnt help either...although the car did feel smoother without the panel filter.

    I'd change the diesel filter.

Also check for brakes binding, Is the car boxed or remapped?

If not may need to look at inlet manifold or get injectors re-conned

How would i know if the brakes are binding?

yes the car was mapped before i brought it,i have wondered if this could be causing the problems but i know nothing about mapping cars so is it possable to get the map taken off?

Apparently the map should give me about 3-4 extra MPG along with 20BHP and more torque but i aint got a clue lol...how do i got about getting the map taken off? it was done in newcastle so theres no way i can get up there....could a dealer do it?

If your parked on a flat surface and release the handbrake you should be able to push the car backwards or forwards reasonably easily. If not they could be binding. Then you will need to jack each wheel up and try spining it round to see if its ok.
I had an issue with a build up of corrosion in the slider holes of the caliper. The corrosion was building up on the caliper, pushing onto the rubber sleeve the slider glides through. This was causing it restrict the movement. I just pushed out the rubber sleeves and scraped it all out with a screwdriver and put the rubber sleeve back. Now alot easier to slide back and forth.

Could be a bad map,.. dealers can put current VX software onto the car which will overwrite the map

A dealer can reflash it with the latest standard map.
