I have replaced these before on a 2002 vectra c, normally they fail the mot (or burst in my case) near where the are sectioned at the rear ( pipe going to N/S/R wheel)
If your doing it yourself it will cost you £10-£15 ish in pipe, fluid and brake pipe unions (if you have the tools).
I didnt remove the rear subframe, just took my time unclipping the n/s/r pipe from the plastic clips and made a new pipe the same shape and clipped it back in.
The pipes are also sectioned just under the drivers pedals, which is handy
I did all mine this year.
I took the old pipes off the car using just drive on ramps and they cost me £26 for the pipes to be made up including fittings. Putting them back was straight forward, some where slightly long but I managed to get them fitted with very little problems.
The one to the passengers side rear wheel was quite easy in the end, I just straightened the pipe out and pushed it through the gap to the other side. I used cable ties to keep the pipes in place where I couldnt use original fittings.
Keep the pipes away from the anti roll bars as I was told and everything will be OK.
Also, on mine there were different fitting sizes depending on which port on the ABS control box the pipes went into, make a note what size fitting goes in which ABS port and you shouldn't go wrong.

Did you have the pipes made up in copper and how do you go about filling and bleeding the brakes with the abs.
Thanks Dobs.
not changed any of the pipes but i did a fluid change today with my easy bleed kit, with no issues.
I had the pipes made up in copper by the local motor factors, they are very helpful. I have read somewhere that you are supposed to bleed the brakes with the engine running because of the ABS, dont know why but I did mine as normal like any other car and everything was OK as far as I was concerened. Rear brake pipes where completely shot especially the one going through to the passenger wheel, it fell apart in my hands but the local motor factors managed to measure it none the less.

Grease the pipes up if there not to corroded and they'l outlive the car.
Thanks for the advice.I will try and kook at them at the weekend.
hi i am looking to do my brake pipes, what size copper pipe do i need and do i need any specialised tools .
If you take your old pipes to a local motor factor and ask them to make them up after they have measured your old ones they will supply you with the correct size copper pipe and flare the ends for you and put the fittings on for you.
You only need normal DIY tools to to do the job.
