    Default What a ***** of a job!

I decided to remove the exhaust manifold this evening and fit the Chris Tullet manifold.

Everything came apart perfectly, but the Tullet manifold was a ***** to fit, the holes on the mounting plate were very slightly out, not by much but several hours with a needle file opening them out bit by bit and it eventually went on.

I have not done the down pipe yet, that will be later on this week.

But the aded bonus is the weight saving!

    Original Downpipe - 7.7kg's
    Piper Downpipe - 4.6kg's

    So a 3.1kg saving

    Original Cast Manifold - 4.7kg's
    Chris Tullet Manifold - 2.4kg's

So another 2.4kg off, so 5.4 kg overall saving!

Here are the pics progress so far :-

I will post up more pics once the whole job is finished.

Very true! The Ice only came in about 11kg's above standard.

But the VXR 322mm brakes I would expect to be a bit heavier than the 308's.

You'd think for the money it would be a perfect fit 'out of the box'.

Your right you woudl think so, but it is sods law that mine is the only one I know that needed a few small mods to the holes.

I know of about 8 people with VX220's with this manifold and it dropped straight on there's!

Not sure sure if the tolerences between the studs on mine are different than the earlier engines. All VX220 2.2's had the earlier engine and they never seem to have clearence issues.

Not to worry though as it's on now!

No I only mentioned the weight thing as I was suprised by the difference, it's a convertible so I won't be battling the bulge with it!

The weight saving will more than compensate for the bigger brakes to be fitted soon.

You wont be worried about the weight if you put Nitrous Oxide on it Matt
