    Default Dreaded 'Check Safeguard' warning

Last week I had the alarm on my 1.9cdti estate keep going off and every time I turned on the ignition I would get the 'Check Safeguard' warning. Ran a diagnostic check using my diagnostic tool that I can't mention and got several faults that indicted a 'pane was broken' Checked the rear heated windscreen element and found that one of the connectors had come undone. Sorted that and also looped the two rear side window connectors as I have read they are prone to problems. Cleared the faults but was still getting the same warning message, after numerous engine restarts. Eventually I disconnected the battery for half an hour and on reconnecting it had cleared the Safeguard message. Worth bearing in mind if anyone else gets this problem.

Did you clear the codes after you bypassed the window break sensors?

Yes I tried before and after bypassing them but the warning came up and wouldn't go other than disconnecting the battery. To be honest I think it was the rear screen element that was at fault but thought I would bypass the side windows while I was at it. The alarm would go of if anyone broke either of these windows as the ultrasonics would hopefully pick it up
