Its normally the first mod anyone does. Air box mod and a good panel filter (or get an induction kit). I opted for box mod n panel and i thought i noticed a very slight difference but was probably just in my head! It'll prob give a few horses at most. If you're after extra power, you need to do this, then exhaust and a remap and it'll transform a 2.0t

I noticed no difference what so ever. Apart from developed paranoia im messing with the car. Vauxhall spent millions of pounds developing it, and for some reason they put this little half tube in the airbox, for what?? They must have done it for a reason, im sure vauxhall didnt think 'well we dont want the car to breath properly so we will restrict it!' Maybe they put it there so it didnt breathe too much! And mess with the cars system... or maybe im just been old fashioned! I dunno. Lol

I agree. It's there to channel the air towards the MAF in a controlled fashion. On the subject of panel filters they oil from them has all be it rarely been known to kill MAF's. Lucky when I fitted a k&n panel the oil immediately made my vxr idle rough I took it out and took the MAF off and had to dry the oil with a cloth, normal filter back in problem solved.

Upto you beat! We carnt be held responsible if ur mpg drops and it messes with ur system! lol, Personally i wudnt bother as noticed no difference what so ever, people that do notice a difference it must be in thier heads as removing 2inch of plastic dont add anymore more horse power! If u do do it its just a doubt in ur mind if it is messing with anything you dont need to have!

I believe some people with remapped cars have had issues with air flow being restricted hence the air box mod and the drilling of holes to match the Vxr intake. Bog standard or remapped derv most likely won't need it. Again a NA petrol won't notice much either. The 2.0T once modded appears to do better with it.
