Big thanks to Medium Phil for setting up yet another legendary Vec-C event
I've just got home and started sorting out my photos. It's been a strange weekend for me. As some of you know I've not had the best couple of weeks ever. Firstly I had to finally face the fact that the Beast had to go, so started the process of stripping it back and selling it . Next, early last week I had to face the fact of my marriage being over and begin to make plans to leave Wales and head on back home to Kent.
Bearing all this in mind, you'll see why I announced that I have to step down as RO for Wales, a position that i've enjoyed immensly, getting to meet loads of fellow Veccy fans and thoroughly nice people.
This meet was never going to happen for me, because of personal circumstances. Thanks to the generous spirit of several members I was encouraged to try and make it. Some of the people in this club are so amazing you'd never believe it. There's a load of decent people here as was evident if you followed the threads about The Beast when it was vandalised a few weeks back. The support then was nothing short of astounding.
I have to thank everybody for making this weekend quite special, but I also have to make special thanks to 5 people for keeping me going and on the straight and narrow, seriously without their help I really don't know how I would have have coped over the last couple of weeks. Cabby, Mandy, Dean and especially Mark and Cara have all helped me so much you wouldn't believe it.
Anyway, enough of this! Sheesh talk about hearts and sleeves, this is supposed to be about a club meet not a bleeding Dear John letter...Ok, the weekend for me...
Started on Friday with a trip up to GSi Towers for an overnight stay, interupted by several beers and a great mexican meal prepared by Cara. Conversation was awesome and i'm sure Dean now knows everything there is to know about Egypt!!!
Saturday morning was MOT time for The Beast, she passed with flying colours after a minor hiccup with the seatbelts which was ably sorted out by Mark on the spot.
After cleaning the motors down, we headed off to the hotel. We all arrived a bit too early to check in, so headed off to the Diner for some lunch first. After lunch and everybody arriving, we headed off to The Pod. We were shepherded into a field right by the gates which turned out to be a ****** good deal in the end!
The racing at this time was mostly a bit of a let down, I think the track was too cold for anyone to get any grip. Of course one of the highlights of the evening was the Jet Car! But, as you know by now this had a rather disturbing blow up just afte it left the line. Fortunately the driver walked away and is aparrently ok. This put paid to the racing for the rest of the evening though so we headed off for the night. Had a laugh in the pub after.
Sunday morning arrived and after a brief car cleaning excercise, we headed to the diner for breakfast. everyone that stayed in the hotel joined us. Unfortunately the service was pretty poor and some didn't get their food for ****** ages, making us late getting to the track.
By the time we got there, they had stopped taking entries to race there was still a lot of fun to be had around the track none-the-less. Including the Dodgems and Octopus. There was also one little suprise in that one Vec-C member managed to get to the Pod early enough to register to race. Yup, none other than our very own Nutron!!!!!
Well that's actually about it, we waited around to see Nutron run, then most of us bu99ered off.
So in all, it's been a bl00dy fantastic weekend, not spoiled ay all by the track probs and a total credit to Medium Phil.
Right, here's some of my photos. I've now consumed several Stellas and the best part of 2 bottles of Vodka so I reckon I should post the pics without further ado!!
Seeing as i'm too drunk, i'll add the rest tomorrow
