    Default have i any comeback?

    i recently boughta 2002 vectra sri & iv had trouble with immobiliser alarm thing on dash (new key should b here 2mra) if it is just a dodgy key then im not bothered, but if it isnt would i have any comeback from the guy i bought it from ( it was his car but he is a trader )
    just wondering incase it isnt the key?

    consumer law gives you 6 months if he's a trader.. he might not want you to know it, but you can go to trading standards..

    If the car was advertised with a trade name then he's a trader. If he gave you a receipt with his trading name on it, then he's a trader. To be honest, if you can prove that he's selling other cars then he'll have trouble excluding the sale to you from his other trading activities.

    Under the Sale Of Goods Act, for the first six months it is the traders responsibility to prove that the fault wasn't present when he sold you the car (very difficult to do). So, get him to fix it. You might be responsible for a small portion of the price of the parts (this is known as betterment, because you will in effect be getting a newer part than what you paid for), but you are not liable for *any* labour charges.

    I've just gone through this with my car. Injector Pump failed within a month, dealer had a brand new one fitted at his cost and I contributed a portion. A large portion, mind!

    thanks all, just got a new flip key & its all sorted so im not going 2 carry this on with the dealer in question, il keep the above advice in mind 4 the next 6 months just incase , thanks
