    Default Hi

    Hi,
I'm new here, i have had a Vauxhall or two in the past but now i have a real hankering for a Vectra c. I am not too familiar with the models and engines, except for the good old Ecotec 1.8 which i may well buy in SRI flavour.
I am sorting through the models in my mind and deciding which to buy etc. At the moment i'm thinking this:
The 2.2 engined car looks like a great combination but what's the economy like but then so do the diesels, all of them!
It's just finding the combination which suits i guess.
At the moment i'm also looking for technical advice and things to check for like rear suspension rose bushes etc etc
    I want one like this

    With the economy of this

Welcome along. 1.8's a great motor, easily the most reliable of the whole Vec range, especially after they dropped the EGR at the end of 2003 and decent MPG too. Ok its no flying machine but will still crack 3 figures easily and is not a sluggish as some would have you believe. 2.2 has its well known faults most of which should have been sorted by now, just keep and eye out for rattling timing chains on start up. 2.0T is very tunable and very reliable too. Diesels can have loads of problems, some very expensive, Inlet Manifolds, DMF's, DPF's being some of the biggest problems.

    welcome to vec-c ...
the 2.0T is well worth looking at ...great speed and reliability and as been said can be tuned nicely for fuel saving and more power ..

    Hi again all,
    Thanks for the advice....
I went and bought a 2003 Vectra 1.8 sri in the end, it seems like great value.
Drives well and the engine is quiet.

Has a broken heater fan, only works on speed 4, resistor i reckon and the passenger side window will not wind up on the switch, drivers side works though. Just a cople of jobs to do then. I'm happy with it, as long as it's reliable.

Pics when i've had some sleep lol

Duff resistor for the heater and a dirty contact on the door switch, how2's for both and easy to sort.
