Default Hid problem help please MOT tomorrow!

Having a problem with one of my hids, think it's the ballast but not 100% sure

Basically it's coming on for a few seconds then switching straight off and or come back on till I restart the car. Also when the ballast shuts down the car cuts the power to it. Tested with a multimeter and it was showing 0.23v, is this the canbus system doing it's job?

Doin my head in and the mot is tomorrow morning so of anyone can help please do....

Yea I've switched them and it's still doing it, so I reckon it's the ballast. Just seems weird because sometimes it'll stay on for ages but most of the time it just cuts out straight away. I'll get a new ballast ordered and see if that helps.

Does anyone know why the car stopped sending power to the lights when the ballast shuts down?

So because it triggers the low beam warning light it stops sending power to in until you restart the car? I never new that I would of thought that they should always be 12v at the light aslong as there switched on?

Oh well looks like I'll be taking them out in the morning before mot:@

No its the other way around. The canbus system sends a pulse around the car measuring the resistance of the bulbs, because the ballast fails it can no longer measure the resistance of the bulb that's not working so thinks that the bulb is gone and triggers the failure message.
