    Default 3.0 CDTi engine temp

Having been a long-standing 2.2 Direct fan, I find I know nothing about my 3.0 diesel (or any diesel in a car really )

Does it normally take about 5 miles to get the engine temp up?
I appreciate it's a big lump (I have colleagues that are, and they warm-up pretty quick ) and I am used to the alloy petrol job, but just wondering as my run to work is only about 7 miles..........

    Diesel Newby.

Yep, it does take a long time to warm up - 5 miles is about right at the moment. Will take even longer when we get into very cold of winter especially with the heater turned up. I found last winter when it was -8 to -10 in the day it could take 10 miles before it even showed anything on the gauge......

The 3.0 V6 CDTI isn't for those with short journeys
I tend to potter along at 50mph, until the needle starts to move, then boof, I'm off

With the heaters on it does take slightly longer for the needle to respond, especially in the winter
