Yet another new post, why not post in the same thread...
As per previous, get at least three quotes, phone around and find a mechanic familiar with the SCV on the Y30DT (if they ask what a SCV is, then hang up)
Equally, as you have already started on the EGR valve, replace that first

Did another post as some people don't view posts if they think it's finished, and I wanted as much feedback as possible

Can't seem to find anyone that has worked on this engine in vectra or Isuzu

If you decide to go ahead and replace the SCV,s yourself PLEASE!!! PLEASE!!! PLEASE!!! cap all fuel lines high and low pressure to avoid any contamination entering the fuel system. I kept contamination to a minimum by cleaning off all components with a spray brake cleaner, and dont forget to replace the fuel filter after rebuilding the fuel system. The SCV,s come as a repair kit to repair the high pressure diesel pump, you will need some sound mechanical knowledge to carry out a satisfactory repair...

I used to be mechanically minded, but I now prefer to pay someone else to get their hands dirty, so that I can sit back on my leather sofa

Five hours labour is nothing really
As above, the major problem is finding a mechanic capable of doing the job
Put the word out and you should find one within a month

Equally, VX are now getting quite experienced in this
Mine was the first the dealership I use had seen, but they now have five on their books and others with faults get sent there

As it is an Isuzu engine try 4x4 centres, that is where I found the mechanic I now use for this engine
As I mentioned sometime ago, popped the bonnet and his remarks were "Why has someone shoe-horned this engine in there?!?"
He also agreed, the fuel filter is the weak point, it is only designed to last 10K miles and unlike the oil filter that can last up to 32K miles, it has to be replaced and as a result is often overlooked

With regards to fuel contamination, the same guideline applies as soon as you break the seals on diesel fuel lines
Field Remedy 1957 makes this quite clear, although suggests going one stage further and actually removing all the fuel first
