is the power steering in my 2003 sri supposed to be light or should it get heavier with more speed, its just that i drove an astra the other day and the steering was heavier and i felt more in control of the car???
thanks

anyone??
i don't think it's speed -sensing... the weighting may increase marginally, but it won't increase dramatically..what tyre pressure's you running??
36, but the car feels all over the place at most speeds
Dunno what engine size you've got but the h/book says 32psi for a 2.2, thats what i run and it feels fine.
just checked, i am running 32 psi
ok, drove my mates 1.8 yesterday and the steering felt alot stiffer so he drove mine and said that it felt too light and as if it was driving on ice,
its nice to know its not just me. any other ideas??
Some random information that may prove helpful...
- Booster speed [rpm]
- Vehicle speed [km/h]
- Steering speed [°/s]
- Low force requirement
- Quick reaction due to low force requirement
- Good handling, precise steering characteristics
- Improved stability of straight-ahead running due to increased steering force
Is your tyre pressure gauge acurate? Try another one to compare.
How many miles has yours done - maybe the suspension needs a look at?
If you talk to your mate, would he let you swap his wheels with yours, just as a test for a couple of miles. At least you know his car drives fine and by trying them on your car will see whether its anything related to wheels or tyres.
its even when the car is parked, the steering you can turn with hardly any effort where as his had a bit of resistance
