    Default iPhone help....!!!

Just taken delivery of my new iPhone..

Very nice and seems to do everything I would want to do with a phone and loads more.

My question is about battery life. Not really downloaded many apps yet and have used it very little really - by that I mean not really made any calls

took it off an overnight charge at 0930 this morning and left it on the side. Less than 3 hours later battery is saying 80% remaining

yesterday it was screaming to be charged by 7pm

Is this normal - I hope not

The battery is terrible! Seriously. You have to charge it almost every night. Especially if you use the internet or play games on it.

So, Yes, that is perfectly normal... shouldnt be, but is.

I guess that's why when stretching legs at the motorway services there is always someone looking for an in-car iPhone charger from those mobile acessories places lol......

Will just need to keep an eye on it and a charger in my bag

Apple advertise the iPhone as having a standby time of 300 hours.....!!

They obviously think of standby as being OFF lol...!!!

Not even gone down the Bluetooth route yet....!!

Yeah mine is the same, i hardly use it when i'm at work but the battery is soon down to 40% by the time i get home. But i do have bluetooth switched on constantly.

Hope it is one of the issues solved when the new iphone is released later this year.

This is why I went for a BlackBerry Storm rather than an iPhone. The Storm needs charging once a week, and that includes messing about on the internet every other day.

If you have an iPhone then this is a crucial buy though, it charges your iPhone/iPod, it streams your music to an FM station and finds the one with the least interference and it acts as a phone holder all in one.

What I normally do is turn 3G off if I'm not using it (I don't get 3G signal in my house so no point it sucking the battery life) you can also turn off Location Services, WiFi & bluetooth when not using them. Turn down the screen brightness, Set auto-lock to 1 minute. All help extend the battery life. I also bought a car charger so I can charge it on the go as I use it for SatNav.

PS you can also buy external battery packs that plug in the bottom, some even come as part of a phone case.

yeah, turn wiress and bluetooth off when not needed.. it absolutely sucks battery life.. the phone will last a day with them both off!

also if you're in a area with little signal, the phone will use extra power trying to connect to what signal it can find.. my office is like a faraday cage, signal is awful and the phone is constantly hunting...

a little tip - you can do a screen shot on the iphone by pressing the main button and the silver one on top both at the same time...

They are shockingly bad compared to almost everything else I've ever owned, one of these helps, but it's another £70 on top. Very good though, myself and my wife have one. If you know anyone going to the US they are about $70 which is much cheaper. That's where I got mine from!
