    Thumbs up Halfords bulbs

Just put Halfords bulbs into my gsi. They cost £29.99 for two! They are very good. Has anyone else tried them? Also how long did they last?

I had them in my last car a Mondeo... 1 went after 3 months but they replace it free as i had the receipt and kicked up a small fuss.. My father now has the car and its been about 12 months since and they are still working fine..

Tried them once in my Alfa,.. expensive and popped after only a couple of months. I'd go for quality names on bulbs, plus they would be cheaper.
No idea why Halfords are so expensive on bulbs

I bought the 105% brighter bulbs at £28.99 for two, only 8 days ago mind, but so far so good, but if they do pop will be tempted by something else, noticed a whole lot of bargains on ebay after buying mine.

I had the Super Brilliance bulbs, and they weren't a lot better to be fair. I then got Nightbreakers, and they weren't a great improvement either - however, the Nightbreakers are noticably better in the other halfs Pug 207 (non-projector lights).

I used to use them in my old classic cars - till they went to silly prices. The brilliance ones in dip/main beam, and the more yellow bad weather ones on fogs. Were pretty good compared to standard, but that was 1979-1985 style headlights.

£15 for one bulb, and I thought we were expensive at £12 each (petrol station price)

I used to recommend Philips Vision, these were also around £15 each but well worth it compared to standard bulbs
I am currently going through a batch of ten H7 bulbs I bought for £18

I've tried cheap bulbs - lasted 2+ years.
    I've tried nightbreakers - lasted 8 months.
When the NB's went I temp put in some cheap £4.99 ring bulbs and apart from a slight colour change, they were as good (or as poor as) as the NBs.
I then fitted HIDs and haven't regretted it.

In short, stop faffing about with halogen bulbs. If you can afford to spend £30 on two bulbs then you might as well spend a bit more and go for a HID kit. If those £30 bulbs only last 1 year (or even less) then HIDs actually work out cheaper to buy in the long term.
