Default Where's The Dimmer Control Wire ?

I've just removed my CD 30 and fitted a Pioneer head unit. The Pioneer has an orange 'Dimmer Control' wire which I want to connect up, but I don't see where to connect to on the car's wiring loom.
My car is a new ( 56 reg ) 1.9CDTi. I previously had a ( 53 reg ) 2.2SRi which had an illumination wire running into the factory fitted stereo, so there was no problems there - the new one has me stumped though.
I've pulled out the heater controls to try and I.D. the culprit when I switch the lights on, but it's just a mass of small wiring which I cannot access without cutting into, which I don't really want to do !
I've also pulled the lighting control on the other side of the steering wheel out but it's just the same - small wires which I cannot get a voltmeter near.
    Any suggestions ?

I'm no expert on the ICE side of things, but I think it's due to your 56 model now being full CANBUS. The stereo is now totally CANBUS (I believe) and that will probably explain the absence of wires like that.

I'm sure one of the ICE experts will be along to confirm that or say what a load of trollox I'm talking!

Right you should be able to take it off the ciggy lighter socket ,
    to do this
    remove the gear stick surround

then take the the fag ash bit out of the ash tray

then unclip the surround and lid

You should then see the illumination wire for the cig lighter if fitted taped to the power loom for the socket

no your not mate , one of the last places for an ignition source and illumination in the vectra is the fag lighter pretty much all the dash is done with surface mount diodes and canbus , bluddy technology ......
