Default 2.0 DTi Oil change through dipstick

Folk, just wanted your thoughts on performing an oil change through the dipstick with the aid of syphon pump. My matey who works for VX used a syphon last time, less mess, nice and easy. But is it worth dropping the oil out the sump this time round ????

    Thanks in advance.

drain sump everytime bud, using a syphon doesn't get all the old oil out, leaving dirty oil in sump is the last thing you want,do it right it's not a long job.

Cant see how you wouldnt get as much out with a syphon as you would through the sump hole tbh. From what ive seen of them you can turn the hose around to reach most parts of the sump.

as above, tried it on 2.2dti's and 1.9cdti's... 99% removed, if there is any crud it would block up the intake of the syphon which is hasnt done once yet.

Id like to try one of these syphon pumps tbh. VX, in their wisdom, decided to put the sump plug at the front on the z18xe for some reason which means I cant get all the oil out when I do mine on small ramps or axle stands!!

If the main dealers are all using them, then it can.t be that bad!
I'd also give it a try, saves getting under the car, taking the engine guard off etc. Plus it stores the oil in a sealed container ready for disposal!
Anyone used one and had problems?

I have a cunning plan. What if I park the car on a slight incline, so the oil is at the front of the sump. Would this enable me to suck out most of the oil ????

If you are using a dealership, check the receipt for the replacement seal and plug
Equally, I always sit and watch them doing the work
