Default Latest Failure - Power Steering - £600 + YIKES!

Yep, latest failure is power steering.

Last Friday morning started car, no power steering. Green flag towed me to local garage. Needed new pump. Parts arrived at garage on Wednesday, to date it's still in bits. On ramp with "whole of front end removed, inner wheel arch removed, I have never seen so many nuts & bolts on the floor" - said the manager. I said "I hope it all goes back together ok". He said "yeah, so do I".

Total cost is £630 including parts, labour, VAT. Not even a main stealer. Still not finished as I bash the keyboard in frustration.

Just called the garage for a progress report.

Apparently they have put the pump on, put most pf the car back together, tested it and it still does not work. Investigating it further they have found that the got sent the wrong pump. So now waiting the correct pump to be re-delivered and start all over again.

Great, just great. Looks like another few days.

Not alternator as had that and battery replaced a few months ago.

Green Flag said it was the pump, garage said it was the pump. They even got an auto electrician to double check. It's defo the pump. However according to the garage "they are no new pumps available, anywhere".

I presume it's because they have already all been bought and replaced. F*cking Vauxhalls.

Latest is that they still cannot get a new pump. So may be end of this week, or may not be. That will have been 2 weeks by then. They said they can get a new one from main dealer for £800 + VAT, but not doing that. So having to wait until they get one. I do now feel what I am being told is total b*ll*cks. Bit stuffed as this is the garage Green Flag towed me to. I am now having to hire a car, at my cost. Firm and angry phone call to them will be made later.
