    Default Dodgy Used Car Dealers

    Hi all,

I need your help. Has anyone had a service by Nationwide Auto Centre?
If so, would you mind posting up a pic of the service stamp in the log book. The reason being I have bought a car from a dealer and I reckon he has made up the last 50,000 miles of service history. I rang Nationwide Auto Centre to check when the cambelt was last done and they had no record of ever doing any work. So I reckon the dealer has had a stamp made to fill in the gaps.

So it would be nice to see a real stamp and compare notes, so I can screw him over (seeing as he's holding my car to ransom cos I made him take the car to bits to check the state of the cambelt and some other work cos he couldn't prove when it was last done either, even though he claimed to do a 90 point service check before sale!!)

    All help gratefully received

    Cheers,

    Matt

That sounds dodgy to me fella especially as they've said they have no record of ever doing any work on your car

Take the car and service book back to the sales person
Give them 7 days to investigate and report
Also issue them with a written notice that in the event the service record is shown to be incorrect the car will be returned
Send a copy of this letter to the finance company, if purchased under a contract

How far past the 50K mile service is it now?

Cheers guys, it's done 122k miles but between 55k and 113k it's false, so nearly 60k in fact is false. Rang all Nationwide Autocentres around the area where MOT was last done, no record at all. Thanks for the pic Deanos, very useful indeed. Been onto Consumer Direct today and have now sent the dealer a nice letter telling him I will be collecting the car today, I will not be paying the £144 he wants for recovering the vehicle to fix a number of other faults apart from the cambelt and if that fails I will be adopting the persona of Michael Douglas in Falling Down!! I can then get a good service on it once I've got it back.

A car with 122K miles for sale from a dealership?
Presumably sitting in the bargain basement corner or awaiting uplift for disposal (auction)

Sorry, should have said not a Vauxhall dealer, just a used car dealer...yes not expensive but that doesn't excuse his behaviour
