    Default Cruise control.

Right, a couple of weeks ago my spanner in car light came on so I connected my code reader. That came back with nothing so I just did an erase and was then fine for a day or two then came back on. It only comes on when the ignition is on but goes out once the car has started. I've just found out about the brake and throttle test to read fault codes and it came back either P0565 or P1565 (both codes related to the cruise control) so what could the problem be, I've put my foot under the clutch pedal to see if it was the spring but that didn't work. Any ideas people.

Don't know what the codes are, but the most common problems with cruise control are the end of the control stalk needs cleaning or has deteriorated and the clutch switch spring as you mentioned.

Or its the connections inside the CIM where the stalk connects to, have a look at the posts under my name and you will see what i have done so far

I have a 2nd hand CIM there to try but no one to code it for me that lives close

Paid a visit to Rich (kman) the other night to read the codes properly and it was defo p1565. Rich swapped my indicator stalk and cleaned the cim as the contacts were a bit dirty but that still hasn't worked. Really don't know what else to try now.

Right update, fault code is P1565. Yesterday I changed the clutch switch as it looks like the clutch spring is not the problem and it's STILL not working.

UPDATE FROM THIS MORNING I got the cruise control to work for a brief period this morning on the way to work, I don't know how but once I was doing approx 70 I hit the button and the light came on. Tried it later but has now stopped again. I know people say you should be able to use cruise at 30mph+ but could it be that when the cruise turned itself off the last time it was working I was doing about 70. Will test again on the way home tonight.

I dont want to sound like a complete pr1ck here, but is it not the case cruise only works after you have at least hit the brakes once after setting off?

Just in case its that like

Yes, that is the case but my brakes were used at least 6 times before the first attempt
