    Default Irmscher suspension query?!

Right bascially my car went in for MOT yesterday and it's come back i have 4 broken springs - brilliant!

My mate had an Irmscher shocks and springs set up as standard from the factory as it was an Irmscher edition 3.0 v6 CDTi

Now he took it off as it was quite low and the front lower lip spoiler was catching & getting smashed on all sorts so he wanted to raise it a little. He has the complete set up going spare which i can have.

Now I have got a 1.9 CDTi and basically i want to know if there is any reason that i can't put this set up on mine? I could see it being a problem if it was the other way around because obviously the weight issue of a 3 litre lump is going to be more than a 1.9 litre lump.........

Any advice would be great thanks as i want to get this done this weekend and back in for the MOT as it ran out today and i'm now without a car!

The irmscher suspension was'nt standard from factory and there is none such thing as an irmscher edition.

The spring are all made for different axle weights and the springs from the 3.0 v6 cdti will make a 1.9cdti look as if its on stilts.

You sure some Signums were not fitted with all the irmscher stuff as standard?? I have seen a few but know they are rare, if not then fair one and i stand corrected, just assumed a handful were released from new like this.

Yeah i did think that because it's all to do with the different axle weights that this might be a problem with it looking higher as there would be less weight on the springs.

Plus the Design edition which i have got was slightly lower than standard Signums, so gotta source the springs which will put it back to the existing ride height as just getting standard ones will raise it too.

Some may have been "dealer specials" but there is no irmy edition from the uk main dealer. Loads of elegance models got a styling kit as no one was buying them, some may have been special order by a customer.

has yours been lowered already? Over standard for a design as the design has "sri" springs which drop it 15mm over the elite/elegance.

I have to be honest Big Sig i don't know. When my mate was taking the irmscher shocks and springs off we were looking into the ride heights and that's how i became aware that the design model is 15mm lower than the elite, but other than that i'm unaware if it has been lowered any further as i have nothing to compare it against.

The design is essentially the SRI suspension setup but on the siggy. Some elite siggys with the 18" wheels had a sports suspension upgrade (same as the SRI again) These as said are dropped 15mm lower than standard.
