Default 2.2 SRI rear box outer skin

Lost my lower outer skin on the rear box.

It has left the inner one which looks like new, in-fact you would not notice the outer one has gone

Question: Should I paint this inner one to make it last and if so what cheap black paint can I use?

    thankyou

give it all the help it can get...use either hammerite or smoothrite to help it last... and start saving for the inevetable replacement..

That far back there is no real heat to talk of..

hammerite will take up to 250 deg C.. so manifolds are out, but that far back it's not an issue..the 'can' will not even get to 100 deg..

Painting may not do a whole lot of good as contrary to popular belief, they rot from the inside out.

Yup 90 degree bends at *ahem*mph in 5th gear do tend to get your calipers a bit warm not to mention the seat of your pants

indeed they do, and the water in the exhaust gases condenses between the two skins, rotting out the outer one 1st..

a little paint never hurts.. but it won't help it forever..
