    Engine : 2.0 TDI 184PS

    Year : 2014

    Mileage : 40000

    Question Astra VXR gearknob

Ok purchased one of these, and I need to transfer the gator over from the old gearstick (CDTI 150 Elite pre-facelift one) to the new one (Astra VXR one). I have heard this is possible and I believe some members have done this.

Does anyone know how I set about removing the gator and swapping it over?

Any help and advice is much appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Gazza4

Gazza Dean ( plasma ) did this on mine .but had a problem transfering the gator over . the problem seems to be that the vxr knob does not come off so we had to un stitch a bit off the gator so it would slid over the knob ,then sewed it up . but once done it does feel a lot better than the old one . khalid

the vectra has gone , but not far away so ill still see it form time to time

Cheers guys gonna chance swapping the bases over as I am stumped as how to remove the gatro from the neck of the gearknob - and I don't fancy mutilating it . My concern with this is there not being enough slack on the gator when it is put into reverse.

Hi. There's defo enough slack as I got my hands on an astra VXR knob. I too was stumped but just like you I took the staples from the plastic base and reattached to the vectra base. No issues yet.

I also used the VXR gator, just used the plastic trim that secures it to the bottom and tucked it all in, easy and no mess, just leave it on
