Im getting poor MPG on my 2006 veccy 1.9cdti sri 150.
The last 2 fuel top ups have resulted in the following:
£20 @ £1.41 per litre,80% town and the rest between 30-50MPH=124 miles
£20 @ £1.41 per litre,75% motorway/carrageway(sat at 70 with CC) and 25% 30-50mph=126 miles.This i know is well down on what i should be getting!
It seems to be getting steadly worse as time goes on
So far ive cleaned boost sensor(not too dirty) cleaned EGR valve(didnt do the solanoid but the prevous owner has already drilled out and cleaned before, again this wasnt too dirty)
I also took out the airbox as it has some section cut out to aid airflow.I had my suspicions that this would be the cause if the bad fuel economy because it was sucking in so much more air.The total area of the cut out sections were larger than the intake pipe so was sucking in twice as much air that it should do.I read a post last night about this and the original air intake was plenty enough for the engine already.
The Courteney turbo panel filter thats in the car at the moment looks pretty black but i cannot clean it as i cannot get of the recharge oil over the counter,i have got to order it online and not sure when it will arrive.I will also be doing an oil change at the weekend but the day before i picked the car up the guy i brought it from said the service light had come on and was going to get it serviced before i picked it up.
Theres no lights on the dash, the tyres are at correct pressure and the car runs fine, although somtimes i do feel like its down on power a bit but not sure if its just in my head.Ive checked the hoses for splits and cant see anything but i did replace the boost hoses as they looked a bit perished but that hasnt made any difference.
Is there anything else that i should check or clean that would/could effect fuel consumption?
