Signum 1.96cdti 120bhp

Hi,

Only my second post so here goes!!!

I have a Signum 1.9cdti 120 8v 2004 (which I wish I had never bought especially as it should have been a 150bhp 16v but thats another story!

Since Ive owned the car I have had loads of problems starting and have had a new battery and checks done but the car still struggles to start especially when cold. It also seems very sluggish although I did put this down to the fact that it was only the smaller bhp model but I am sure its running well under powered.

The car has only covered 70k and has service history.

Can anybody help or suggest? Should I check the EGR and would it cause these sort of problems?

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Sounds a little similar to me when I first bought mine..... Having moved from a V6 mondeo with 181bhp down to my Vectra 8V it was like riding a slug lol

Seems that the cold start issue is quite a common issue witht the CDTi's.

First place to begin I suppose would be to try cleaning the EGR valve and Boost sensor (cheapest place to start) then perhaps look at the glow plugs and make sure they are all functioning and receiving voltage. Then if none of those work it may be worth checking the injector leak-off pipes....... after that then possibly injector seals (copper seals).

So wish I had bought the 150 as well lol

Anyway best of luck and hopefully some of our more knowledgeable folk may be able to cast a few ideas your way
