    Default ice thread part 2

please see http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=148231 for my firs install attempt i had the issue of my sub falling over and i broke my phono leads in the one of my amps so i needed to modify all pictures will be added then ill edit and talk through what ive done as i dunno how to type between pictures

well that didnt work so i added feet from back to front with the back part cut out to fit in the slanted plastic bits in the boot

then cut out some laminate flooring to make the box effect and screwed it on

the horizontal is not cut straight but i will explain that at the end

put it in the boot and you can see the gap down each side ill come back to this

i put the amps in altho only 1 will be wired in due to breaking some of the wiring from the sub falling over

as you can see from the shelf i took out the metal supports not intentional but its happened so ill explain plain at the end please see http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=146995 for how this went

nxt you can see the cover for amps and the sides that are added to tidy up the box i need to adjust these to help keep the sub sturdy

right the plain is glue the 6*9 speaker wires int the parcel shelf
run more wires to enable other amps
    carpet the box step
add lights to the steps this is where the not straight cut will help as i want the lights to be tilted towards the sub
the lights will be connected to the boot light so will only come on when boot open

    what you all think ?

wow nice are you using any power caps.
years ago when i had my escort cab i was toying with the idea of a split charge relay like they have for towing caravans and a seperate battery to run my ice and i was running only 2 amps 2 subs
i was allways worried that my alternator wouldnt be able to handle it all

the problem i use to have when i use to have all this was when i had everything on heater lights etc with 2 amps the bass wasnt as clear and distorted a lot during the day it was fine this could ov been because i was driving a 20year old xr3 so not sure if alternators are any better these days
my theroy was put a lesure battery in the boot and just run the amps stright off this you buy a split charge relay and what this does is switch the charging from main car battery to 2nd battery when its getting low so the alternator wont be getting worked as hard with all that load on one battery.
i bought all the stuff for it but never got round to try it out and then the 3rd child came along and it was good bye convertable hello to vectras mondeos etc now my little one doesnt have a buggy anymore so maybe one day i might get back in to having a ice install in the boot
also you will only need the one 12v cable going from the front to the back this way so you still will be able to wire more amps up on their own with less wires running through the car

That's defiantly worth looking into I still have buggies going in my boot tho so I'll need to consider what little space I have left lol

well its worth a think about once you conect them all up turn everything on in the car and see if you notice any difference like i said not sure on how good todays alternators and batterys are like
the other option is the power caps for each amp and you will have the space at the side of your box for them

I've just looked into the cost of this and it is not that expensive so now all I need to do is work out where I can put the battery I was thinking of cutting the floor and putting hinges on it so I can easily access the spare wheel so I will need to take that into consideration as well
